Maintaining Your Audi

Regular Audi servicing at an Audi Centre is the ideal way to maintain both the smooth running and the resale value of your Audi.

We pride ourselves on ensuring that you – and your car – receive the very highest level of care and service. No one understands Vorsprung durch Technik like we do, so to book an Audi service with the people that know your model best, simply contact your local Essex Audi Centre.

Why is servicing important?

You can ensure that your car maintains its optimum level of performance throught the ownership cycle by taking it for regular Audi servicing. A full service history can also enhance the potential resale value of a car.

How often should an Audi be serviced?

There are two types of Audi servicing: time and distance servicing and variable servicing. Please consult with your Audi Centre to determine which servicing programme best meets your requirements. Vehicles being serviced according to time and distance require services at fixed intervals, while variable servicing means that sensors located within your engine and other working components of the vehicle will inform you when your Audi service is due.

There are other parts of your vehicle that will also require regular maintenance. Select from the list below to see which applies to you and your vehicle and contact us to book Audi servicing.

Cam Belt Change

The cambelt is made from a rubber based compound that deteriorates over time. As one of the hardest working components in an engine, it should be replaced regularly and in good time to avoid serious engine damage.

Cambelt wear is influenced by factors such as  time, mileage and various sources of contamination. It is therefore essential to replace it at recommended intervals.

We recommend that your cambelt is replaced every 5 years or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first*, to ensure optimum safety and performance.

Cambelt replacement is a complex job, requiring the expertise of experienced, Audi-trained technicians. If your vehicle is over three years old, you can visit our Affordable Servicing section for more information about our exclusive, fixed-price Audi maintenance deals.

*Not applicable to A2 or V8 RS6 models.  Details refer to 2004 model year onwards.

Brake Fluid Change

Your Audi's brakes are designed and engineered to bring you to a safe, smooth stop, day in, day out.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture over time. This absorption reduces the temperature at which the fluid boils, resulting in increased stopping distances, reduced braking efficiency and potential brake failure.

Your brake fluid should be replaced every two years* to ensure your Audi keeps stopping as effectively as it keeps going.  If your vehicle is over three years old, visit our Affordable Servicing section for more information about our exclusive fixed price Audi maintenance offers.

* First brake fluid change at three years, subsequent changes at two years for vehicles built after June 2006.

Transmission Fluid Change

Your transmission system has been engineered to give you smooth, seamless gear changes.  To ensure this continues it’s important that your transmission fluid is changed regularly.

Transmission fluid acts as both a lubricant and coolant to your transmission system.  Everyday wear and tear breaks down the viscosity of transmission fluid making it less effective and potentially causing consequential damage to other components, such as the engine.

To ensure your gear changes remain seamless, your transmission fluid should be changed according to your service schedule every 40,000 miles.

Air Conditioning

Your air conditioning system dehumidifies and purifies the air inside your car, which helps to prevent your windows from misting up. However, a build-up of bacteria and other airborne particles can reduce its efficiency, create unpleasant odours and trigger allergies.

To ensure your air conditioning system is running at optimum efficiency, we recommend an air conditioning service every two years. The Audi trained technicians at our dealerships will carry out a full drain and recharge of the gas in the system, as well as a detailed inspection of hoses and connectors. we will also inspect the cooling fan and compressor drive belt.

Between services, an air conditioning refresh is also available.  This ultrasonic treatment disinfects any microbial, fungal and bacterial particles, ensuring that the air in your car remains as pure as it should be.

Tyres

Your Audi’s tyres are vital in bringing it to a safe and controlled stop. The legal minimum tread depth of a tyre is 1.6mm, but even at that depth, it takes much longer to stop than a brand new one. When road surfaces become more treacherous – for example, following rain – the condition of your tyres is an even greater priority. Fortunately, we offer a range of premium tyres at competitive prices.

Your tyres are the only point of contact between your Audi and the road, and as such, regular maintenance and correct replacements are a key consideration. Not only do tyres affect the acceleration, steering and stopping distance of your car, they are also key factors in optimising fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions.

Our trained technicians will help to maintain your tyres by checking their tread depth, pressure, appearance and condition..  If your tyres need to be replaced, you’ll be provided with tyres of the same high quality as the factory-fitted originals at a competitive price.

To book a tyre check or receive a quote for a replacement tyre, simply contact your local Essex Audi Centre.
